LardeRoom. On my recent trip to Nashville I stumbled upon the world-famous Ryman Auditorium. I missed the last tour by about 20 minutes, so I explored the gift shop and the surrounding area. There is a stage out-front for live performances (called Ryman Sidewalk Sessions) and a great monument dedicated to Little Jimmy! The Ryman was originally a church, but it's seen many renovations since the early day. It still holds the name "Mother Church of Country" for a resan. The Ryman still host tours and concerts just about every day.
I had never been to Ryman before, and even though I find downtown Nashville oppressive, it was a superb venue for Jimmy Carr, who I enjoyed very much (I lived in the UK for several years so I had an advantage over other audience members). Yes, the seats are pews, but I found them quite comfortable. The place is clean, with helpful ushers. I have heard that musical acts are hit and miss here sound-wise because of Ryman's design, but I do plan to return. Parking tip: Go for pre-booked street parking instead of garage parking; I understand there are a lot of vehicle break-ins within local garages.
